How can I find out if the date I want is available?
You can call city hall at 515.262.9368 and they will provide you dates and times of availability.
How do I reserve a shelter?
Reservations are on a first-come first-served basis. A printable version of the shelter reservation form is available online and at City Hall. The completed application along with all fees must be submitted in order to reserve the shelter. A copy of your registration form will be given to you upon payment as proof of your reservation.
What forms of payment can I use to pay for a facility rental or recreation program?
Checks, cash, and money orders are acceptable methods of payments.
What if I need to cancel my park reservation?
If you find it necessary to cancel your reservation, please call 262.9368 and provide the following information: Name of group, signature of applicant, and date of intended use. Refunds of rental fees, less a $10 administrative fee, will only be granted with just cause.
What hours are the parks open?
Parks are open from 5:00am to 10:00pm Are pets permitted in the parks?
All pet must be on a leash or similar constraint not more than six feet (6') in length, and the owner is responsible for disposal of pet waste.
Is there fishing allowed at Copper Creek Lake Park?
Fishing within a City-owned park must be done according to the regulations of the Iowa DNR
Are boats permitted on Copper Creek Lake Park?
No person shall operate any gas-powered motor boat within a city-owned park. Watercraft must be carried in and used according to the boating laws of the Iowa DNR.
Is alcohol allowed in the parks?
Keg beer of any size, party balls, hard liquor, or glass containers are not allowed in the parks.

How do I find out what classes and programs are available?
Programs are listed monthly in the Pleasant Hill Edge and will also be online. A printable registration form is also online and at Pleasant Hill City Hall.
Where do I register for a Sports League?
All sports leagues are handled by outside groups, click on the links tab to locate the group you are interested in.
Can I register for classes over the phone?
We are not able to take program registrations by phone. However, you can walk in or mail your registration to:

Can I suggest a recreation program that I would like to see offered at the parks?
Please feel free to contact the recreation staff at 515.309.0049 if you have a program interest, suggestion, or would like to instruct a class.
I wanted to sign up for a class, why was it cancelled?
Classes may be cancelled due to low enrollment up to one week in advance. We strongly encourage participants to register early in order to avoid class cancellations.
Can I get a refund?
-You are entitled to a 100% refund if the City of Pleasant Hill cancels the class.
-You are entitled to a 100% minus a $5 administrative fee if you request a refund prior to the 1st class.
-After a class has begun, credits will be issued on a prorated basis.
There is inclement weather, will there be class?
All Community programs follow Southeast Polk Community School closures. If the schools are closed due to inclement weather, no community programs will take place.
If severe weather is forecasted please call your class instructor to find out if a specific program has been cancelled or changed. |
