COMMUNITY REMINDER

The Police department has recently received complaints from citizens within the community that residents are parking their boats, campers, trailers, and vehicles in prohibited locations on their property. City Ordinance 69.06 prohibits parking in various places within the community.

Section 22 of this ordinance prohibits parking on private residences and businesses, in the following way; the front, side, or rear yard of any private residence or business in any zoning district. This prohibition does not include driveways or parking areas designated within an approved building site plan. Additionally, junk vehicles as defined in the Pleasant Hill Code of Ordinances Chapter 50 are included. Section 23 of this ordinance further states the parking of all vehicles, including automobiles, vans, campers, trucks, trailers, tractors, recreational vehicles, boats, construction equipment, and any other mobile vehicle equipped for street and highway travel shall occur on asphalt or concrete only.

Essentially this ordinance requires persons that have above mentioned vehicles to park them on a paved surface on an approved site plan, otherwise they are in violation of this ordinance and subject to being ticketed for unlawful parking.

A parking violation in the City of Pleasant Hill carries with it a fine of $15.00.

The Pleasant Hill Police Department will investigate complaints of violations of the parking regulations outlined by ordinance and take appropriate action as needed.
If anyone has questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the Pleasant Hill Police Department at 515-265-1444.

Thank you
